WOW! What a great example of what this site is all about…hand-built early hot rods! Mark Rittinger sent us pictures and information of his dad’s ’29 roadster. This honey was built in '59, driven until '68 or so (has since been restored). The ‘mad scientists’ were Charles Rittinger and Phillip Rittinger, Detroit.

Body: 1929 coupe cut into roadster, 1930 cowl, 1934 truck grille, body sectioned, chopped, and very channeled, steel, lead. Frame: 1929 boxed, z'ed rear, coil springs. front buggy spring 1929 original, Ford original 1929 front axle! Steering Box: Henry J. Rear Axle: 54 Ford, ratio unknown. Front Spindles: 38 Ford. Rear Brakes: 54 Ford. Front Brakes: 40 Ford. Engine: 1954 Oldsmobile 324 cubic inch "Rocket", # v139841. Intake: Edelbrock tri-power, part # OL396B. Carbs: center; Holley 2110. front/rear; Holley 2100 rebuilt 2006, progressive linkage Eelco. Cam: most likely an Iskenderian solid lifter, set to .018 lash. Exhaust: dumps out side, glass packs under. Distributor: Mallory dual point type, ZC250, 24 deg advance. Transmission: GM Hydromatic 4 speed, no cooler. Tires: front; 5.60-15 bias ply 3" wide whitewall Coker Classic, rear; l78-15 bias ply 3" wide whitewall Coker Classic. Wheels: 15" steel, rear are reversed centers Wheel Covers: 1956 Oldsmobile.
